Looks nice and seems to work well, but the black retaining ring randomly fell out.

The pepper grinder looks nice and initially functioned well as expected. However, as at least 9 other reviewers have noted experiencing, within 2 weeks of purchase and after very minimal usage, the black retaining ring around the grinder cone & adjustment knob just fell out when I was using the grinder, which was disappointing and indicative of poor design or construction for this part. After some research & experimentation, I was able to pop the ring back into place using needle-nose pliers (you just need something hard and narrow to push and flex the ring a bit, not necessarily pliers). I'm hoping that this is not a harbinger of other problems to come. Otherwise it's a nice grinder.

Iโ€™ve been looking for a salt grinder for a long time. I was hoping to find something smallโ€”closer to the disposable grinders you see at the grocery storeโ€”but those donโ€™t really seem to be available. So I decided to try this one, and overall Iโ€™m glad I did. Iโ€™ve included photos to give a better sense of the size compared to your store size non-refillable salt grinders, since itโ€™s a bit larger than what I originally had in mind. The grinder works smoothly and doesnโ€™t require much effort to use. You can easily adjust the grind size by turning the knob on the top of the grinder, which is a nice feature. Refilling it was also straightforward. I had no trouble pouring in coarse Himalayan salt from a larger container without making a mess.

great but one flaw

almost everything about this pepper grinder is perfect. the glass the turny bit and how easy it to use and clean is great. its such a simple and accessible piece of kitchen utility and its pretty in its simplicity too BUT! there is a little plastic ring that keeps popping out as i use it. the peppercorns will get stuck behind it and work it out every time i use it and it falls out into my food about every other time so i have to keep popping in and out that little plastic ring and clearing out the pepper and hoping i don't lose it or eat it.
